BATAMCLICK.COM: For many small business owners tucked away in corners of Batam, dreams of expansion often hit a wall: tough banking requirements and complex processes. But now, a glimmer of hope shines from the city government through a new program offering interest-free, collateral-free business loans.
Set to launch this Wednesday, the program is more than just a policy—it’s a heartfelt solution. Hendri Arulan, Head of Batam’s Department of Cooperatives and Micro Enterprises, said the initiative is designed to empower micro businesses with real financial access.
“We already have around six to eight entrepreneurs ready to participate in the launch,” said Hendri on Monday.
This initiative is the fourth priority in Mayor Amsakar Achmad’s agenda. After intense coordination, the city government partnered with state-owned Bank BTN to offer loans up to IDR 20 million—with zero interest and no collateral.
“This is for two thousand micro entrepreneurs who truly need support. The main requirements are simple: a Batam ID card, a valid Business Identification Number (NIB), and the business must be located in Batam,” he added.
Mayor Amsakar understands that not all micro business owners have assets to pledge. But he also knows they carry something more valuable: unyielding determination.
“Our target is to help 2,000 entrepreneurs. If we reach more, even better. What matters is ensuring that those who really need capital get access to it,” he said sincerely.
By removing the burden of interest and collateral, Batam’s government opens the door wider for its smallest players. This isn’t just about loans—it’s about giving them a chance. A chance to grow, to dream bigger, and to create lasting change for their families and communities.***
