BATAMCLICK.COM: To meet the growing demand for Artificial Intelligence (AI) services in Indonesia, PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) has formed a strategic partnership with PT IBM Indonesia (IBM). The collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Telkom’s Director of Strategic Portfolio, Budi Setyawan Wijaya, and IBM’s President Director, Roy Kosasih, recently.
The MoU focuses on working together to offer innovative AI services tailored to Indonesia’s market needs. It also aims to accelerate the development and strengthen Telkom’s capabilities in the AI field.
Telkom’s Director on the Partnership
Budi Setyawan Wijaya, Telkom’s Director of Strategic Portfolio, emphasized that this partnership is key to reinforcing TelkomGroup’s position as the leading digital telco in Indonesia. “AI adoption will grow rapidly in the future, especially with the ongoing digital transformation campaigns in Indonesia. This technology is essential for improving efficiency and productivity in both business and government sectors,” he said.
AI Investment Projections in Indonesia and Asia Pacific
According to IDC’s 2024 research, AI and Generative AI investments in the Asia Pacific region are expected to reach US$ 110 billion by 2028, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 24% from 2023. In Indonesia, a report by Kearney predicts that AI will contribute US$ 366 billion to the national economy by 2030.
The latest “APAC AI Outlook 2025” report by Ecosystm also reveals that more than half of companies in the Asia Pacific region have moved past the experimental phase of AI and are now focused on maximizing its long-term impact, especially in terms of innovation and revenue growth.
Telkom’s Infrastructure Meets IBM’s AI Technology
The collaboration between Telkom and IBM is seen as a powerful combination to offer comprehensive AI solutions for the Indonesian market. IBM’s advanced technologies, including WatsonX, IBM Cloud Pak for Data, AI-Powered Security, and IoT-based services, will strengthen TelkomGroup’s AI capabilities.
