Kepri Enhances Maritime Access: Two HDPE Floating Docks to Be Built in Anambas and Lingga

BATAMCLICK.COM: The Head of the Riau Islands Province Transportation Agency (Dishub Kepri), Junaidi, announced plans to construct two High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) floating docks in 2025 at two strategic locations: Palmatak Port in Anambas and Jagoh Port in Lingga.

“This floating dock construction will be funded through the 2025 provincial budget (APBD), with an allocation of approximately IDR 3 billion for each location,” Junaidi stated in Tanjungpinang on Tuesday (January 21, 2025).

Tender Stage and Quick Completion Target

Junaidi explained that the project is currently in the tender stage and will be executed promptly. The HDPE floating dock, made of pontoons that float on water, serves as a mooring facility for ships.

“These docks are crucial for the communities in Anambas and Lingga as they will streamline inter-island maritime transportation. This improvement in the mobility of people, ships, and goods is expected to boost regional competitiveness and the local economy,” he explained.

Kepri Provincial Government’s Priority Program

According to Junaidi, constructing HDPE floating docks is part of the Kepri provincial government’s priority program to enhance inter-island accessibility in a region where 96% of the area consists of water.

“Upgrading public ports with HDPE floating docks is a strategic effort to simplify community access while supporting economic growth,” he added.
