BATAMCLICK.COM: The Batam City Government in Riau Islands continues to innovate in supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through the Integrated Business Service Center (PLUT) Menyapa program. This initiative provides on-site services where the PLUT team directly assists MSMEs with licensing processes and improving their product quality.
PLUT Batam Consultant, Nurul Qamariah Adijaya, explained that her team targets 10 sub-districts across Batam’s main island and surrounding areas. The program primarily focuses on simplifying the processing of Business Identification Numbers (NIB), Home Industry Food Permits (PIRT), halal certification, and product packaging designs.
“We also offer socialization and education to business actors. Our training sessions aim to enhance their understanding of entrepreneurship, including the packaging standards that MSMEs need to comply with,” Nurul stated on Monday (date).
Focus on Product Packaging Training
PLUT Batam is currently prioritizing training in product packaging for culinary items and handicrafts. For culinary products, there are various packaging options such as standing pouches, jars, and boxes that can be tailored to the needs and budgets of business owners.
“For handicrafts, we encourage the use of packaging like boxes and paper bags. We are also working to provide comprehensive packaging services at the PLUT Building,” Nurul added.
To support MSMEs in creating attractive packaging, PLUT Batam offers consultation services. “We help entrepreneurs understand what constitutes good packaging. Our packaging team evaluates their current designs and provides education and recommendations for suitable packaging solutions,” she explained.
Integrated Services for Product Design and Promotion
The program doesn’t stop at packaging training. PLUT Batam also educates MSMEs on product labeling. According to Nurul, product labels must include key information needed by customers. The PLUT team also offers design services to create labels that meet the required standards.
“In addition, we provide product photography services. Photos should display the actual product to attract customers. With a one-stop service concept, MSMEs can handle packaging design, labeling, and product photography all at PLUT,” Nurul noted.
Through the PLUT Menyapa program, the Batam City Government aims to help MSMEs grow rapidly, not only by simplifying licensing but also by boosting the competitiveness of their products in the market.
