BATAMCLICK.COM: Behind the skyline of cranes and seaports, Batam is not just growing — it’s leading. In 2024, the city contributed a staggering 66.01 percent to the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of the Riau Islands Province.
According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Batam’s GRDP at current prices reached Rp 233.05 trillion, while at constant 2010 prices, it stood at Rp 135.51 trillion. These numbers firmly position Batam as the economic engine of the region.
This achievement was highlighted during a coordination meeting between BP Batam and BPS Riau Islands, held at BP Batam’s Marketing Centre on Tuesday (June 17, 2025). The meeting was a follow-up to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at aligning Batam’s economic data.
“We want to ensure the accuracy and consistency of GRDP data to avoid discrepancies in official publications,” stressed Fary Francis, Deputy for Investment and Business at BP Batam.
Fary emphasized that this collaboration is key to formulating well-targeted development policies and effective priority programs.
“The President has mandated Batam to become Indonesia’s new economic and investment hub. Therefore, this effort is not just about numbers—it’s about shaping the future,” he said.
Also attending the meeting were BPS Riau Islands Head, Margaretha Ari Anggorowati, Batam BPS Head, Eko Aprianto, and Regional Balance and Statistical Analysis Team Leader, Ari Sugih Mulia, alongside several senior BP Batam officials.
Through this synergy, the city hopes to build an inclusive, data-driven investment climate that directly benefits the people. Because in the end, every statistic is more than a number—it is a reflection of the lives, hopes, and progress of Batam’s citizens.(elin)
