BATAMCLICK – Qingdao, China – Indonesia will begin its campaign at the 2025 Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship at Conson Gymnasium, Qingdao, China, from February 11-16. The Red and White team is placed in Group B, alongside Malaysia and Hong Kong.
As the fourth seed, Indonesia aims to improve its performance, as it has yet to win the championship since its inception in 2017. Indonesia’s best achievement was securing a bronze medal in 2019 in Hong Kong. In the latest edition of the 2023 Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship in Dubai, Indonesia was eliminated in the quarterfinals after losing 1-3 to South Korea.
Historically, Indonesia and Malaysia have met once in the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship, in 2017 in Vietnam. Indonesia won that match 3-2, advancing to the next round as Group B champions. Unfortunately, their journey ended in the quarterfinals with a 2-3 loss to Japan.
Indonesia has never faced Hong Kong in this tournament.
For the 2025 edition, Indonesia will field a slightly different team. Big names such as Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, and Gregoria Mariska Tunjung will not participate. Instead, PBSI has entrusted the men’s singles positions to two young players, Alwi Farhan and Yohanes Saut Marcellyno.
In the men’s doubles category, Indonesia will feature Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, Daniel Marthin, Rahmat Hidayat, and Yeremia Rambitan. For the women’s singles, Putri Kusuma Wardani and Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi will take the lead. Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, a doubles specialist, may also play in both women’s and mixed doubles, with Lanny Tria Mayasari for women’s doubles and Dejan Ferdinansyah for mixed doubles.
Additionally, Indonesia will rely on other players, including Rachel Allessya Rose/Meilysa Trias Puspitasari and Rinov Rivaldy/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati.
