Batam Targets 142,000 Vehicles to Own Fuel Card 5.0 for Pertalite

**BATAMCLICK.COM: The Batam City Government, Riau Islands, aims for 142,000 four-wheeled vehicles, or 80 percent of the registered cars in the region, to have the *Fuel Card 5.0* for Pertalite.

Head of Batam City Industry and Trade Office (Disperindag), Gustian Riau, stated that the implementation of the fuel control card for Pertalite purchases will begin once the target of 80 percent is achieved.

“If 80 percent of vehicles in Batam have the Fuel Card, then the implementation will proceed. Therefore, banks are currently accelerating the registration process in various locations,” Gustian said in Batam on Tuesday (21/1/2025).

To meet this target, Disperindag, in collaboration with banking institutions, actively conducts outreach and opens Fuel Card 5.0 registration services at strategic locations such as shopping centers and gas stations.

Currently, approximately 25,000 vehicles have been registered and possess the Fuel Card 5.0 for Pertalite purchases.

Implementation Starts on March 1, 2025

Gustian confirmed that the implementation of the Fuel Card 5.0 would commence on March 1, 2025. However, the program is still in the registration and outreach phase.

“The implementation process is ongoing. So far, only 25,000 vehicles have registered. To achieve the target, banks must intensify outreach efforts to encourage more residents to register,” Gustian explained.

He also reminded residents that users of subsidized fuel, such as Pertalite, are required to have the Fuel Card 5.0. Without it, they can only purchase non-subsidized fuel, such as Pertamax.

“The Fuel Card is mandatory. Without it, Pertalite purchases are not allowed. As an alternative, users can fill up with Pertamax,” he added.

Ensuring Subsidized Fuel is Well-Targeted

According to Gustian, the implementation of Fuel Card 5.0 aims to ensure that the distribution of subsidized fuel, such as Pertalite, is well-targeted, meets the volume requirements, and maintains the quota until the end of the year.

“This system ensures more controlled distribution of subsidized fuel. The proposal to implement Fuel Cards for Pertalite and Solar has received appreciation from the Ministry. We will present this program at the national level so it can be adopted across Indonesia,” he concluded.
