Batam Aims to Become a National Creative Economy Hub, Mega Imlek Festival 2025 Leads the Way

BATAMCLICK.COM: The Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, highlighted Batam City’s vast potential as Indonesia’s creative economy hub during the opening of the Mega Imlek Festival 2025. The event showcased outstanding products from various creative economy subsectors.

“Batam has tremendous opportunities to become a center for the creative economy. With its 17 comprehensive creative economy subsectors, Batam can serve as a model for developing collaboration- and innovation-based creative industries in Indonesia,” he stated in a press release in Batam on Sunday.

Promoting Creative Economy as a Pillar of National Growth
Teuku Riefky emphasized that Batam’s potential aligns perfectly with the national vision of making the creative economy a cornerstone of Indonesia’s economic foundation.

“We must support regions like Batam to become the driving force of the creative economy. Events like the Mega Imlek Festival are not only promotional platforms but also spaces for collaboration and innovation,” he added.

Ardiwinata, Head of Batam City’s Department of Culture and Tourism, representing the Mayor of Batam, expressed the city’s strong commitment to supporting the creative economy’s growth.

“Batam is ready to become a national creative economy hub. We have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) as a Creative City and previously hosted the Bekraf Festival. The city is equipped with the full potential of 17 creative economy subsectors, ranging from culinary arts and cultural heritage to modern products,” Ardiwinata said.
